August 30th, 2025  

The first of four new "Welcome to the Copper Valley" signs went up this weekend just past the boundary of the Mat Su Borough. 

The signs replace the original ones that were erected by the Chamber in 1990. (See Country Journal archived story below). 

Only one of the original signs – the one near Tiekel – is still standing intact. 

The 2025 signs were designed and made by Luke Brockman, son of Renee Brockman (who once served as Executive Director of the Chamber) and former Nelchina DOT/PF Foreman Mark Brockman. 

Luke Brockman now runs a sign company, Skyline Signs, in Anchorage.
