To comply with CDC social distancing guidelines, the Bureau of Land Management has modified its procedures for issuing federal subsistence hunting permits in Unit 13. Here is their notice, as of July 24th, 2020:

COPPER BASIN RESIDENTS

If you have been issued a Unit 13 Federal Subsistence Harvest permit for moose or caribou anytime in the last 3 years:

Please call the BLM Glennallen Field Office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 907-822-7319 to update your information.  Your permit will be mailed to you.  Please have your current hunting license available to provide your license number.

If you are a federally qualified rural resident and have never been issued a Unit 13 Federal Subsistence Harvest permit for moose or caribou:

Please call the BLM Glennallen Field Office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 907-822-3217 to inquire about how you can be issued permits.  You will be able to fax your qualifying documents in to the office so that your permits can be mailed to you. If you are unable to fax documents, an appointment will be scheduled for you at the Glennallen Field Office, 186.5 Glenn Highway. Qualifying documents include photo identification, current proof of physical address, and a current hunting license.

If you get a busy signal or your call is unanswered, please call back or email BLM at: BLM_AK_GFO_GeneralDelivery@blm.gov.

The Federal Subsistence hunting season dates for Unit 13 can be found in the Federal Subsistence Management Regulations at https://www.doi.gov/subsistence/wildlife.
