The state of Alaska has extended its studded tire laws this year, due to the unusual snowfall.
If you live "South of 60" -- or below Latitude 60 Degrees -- your studded tires have to be removed by May 1st.
If you live "North of 60" they can stay on until May 15th.
In Canada, North of 60 is a cultural, geographic and political term which marks the 60th parallel, and the boundaries of the three northernmost territories.
