- Through Monday, May 31, Forty Mile Avenue off of 3rd Street is CLOSED. Please follow DETOUR. Access to 2nd Street is via the Old Steese Highway.
- Starting Tuesday, June 1, the Old Steese Highway will be CLOSED on the College Road side of the 3rd Street intersection for installation of a water line. The closure is expected to last one day. Traffic can detour around using College Road, Illinois Street, and Minnie Street.
- 3rd Street intersections at Hamilton Avenue and the Old Steese Highway are controlled as four-way stops for the duration of the 2021 construction season, through October.
- Please follow all posted DETOUR ROUTES for access to 3rd Street. Pedestrian access will remain open, along with business access.
- Access to Graehl Park from Forty Mile Avenue is currently through 2nd Street.
- Be alert to construction activities between the hours of 7:00am to 11:00pm daily.
- Please be aware of potential construction activities at the 3rd Street and Steese Highway intersection, along with flagging operations and LANE CLOSURES between 7:00pm and 6:00am, Monday through Friday. On weekends, work may occur from 7:00pm to 10:00am.

- Beginning Tuesday, May 25, drivers should be alert to concrete barrier work on the Steese Highway, between MP 6 and 9.
- Work will occur between 7:00am and 9:00pm.
- Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction of travel.
- Drivers should be alert to trucks entering the roadway.
- Please drive with reduced speeds through the work zone.
- During the 2021 construction season, drivers should expect intermittent work along the following corridors:
- Steese Highway, northbound from the Hagelbarger Avenue/Steele Creek Road intersection
- Mitchell Expressway, from Lathrop Street to the Richardson Highway on and off ramps
- Johansen Expressway, from University Avenue to College Road

- The bypass around the bridge at MP 315 is open to traffic.
- The posted speed for the project area is 45 MPH, from approximately MP 314 to 316.

- In summer 2021, between May and June, drivers should expect paving, striping, and rumble strip operations between MP 166 and 172.

- Drivers should expect PILOT CAR and flagging operations during the day.

- Blasting will occur Friday, June 4 between 6:30am and 7:30am between MP 159 to 163 of the Richardson Highway. Expect DELAYS of 20 minutes.

- Through Sunday, June 6 , please be aware of crews working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to clear trees on the project.
- Please be alert to flying debris and heavy equipment on either side of the road.
- Crews will be ceasing work for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 31.
- Mainline work to begin the first week in June after the holiday. Crews will be working both night and day shifts to install culverts.
- Please be prepared for changing road surfaces, flagging operations and traffic control.

- Beginning Friday, May 21, at 7:00pm, drivers should be alert to an EASTBOUND CLOSURE on the Old Richardson Highway, from the Richardson Highway on and off ramps, to South Cushman Street. This CLOSURE is expected to last approximately one week. Traffic will be limited to westbound travel only during this time. Be alert to posted DETOUR ROUTES and and messages boards for additional information.
- Be alert to road work between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:00am, seven days a week, on the Old Richardson Highway between South Cushman Street, and the Richardson Highway on and off ramps.
- Work on the Old Richardson Highway is is expected to last approximately one week.
- After Monday, May 31, drivers should be alert to road work beginning on Easy Street, and Peger Road south of Van Horn Road. Drivers should be alert to posted DETOUR ROUTES and and messages boards for additional information regarding work on these roads.

- Crews will be working on new drainage features for the Birch Hill Road.
- Traffic impacts will be along the Birch Hill Road and the Old Steese Highway, where there will be flagging operations at all times during construction. For one week later in the season, Birch Hill Road will be a single lane road while the culvert is being replaced. It will then be repaved after the culvert is installed.

- The Chena River Bridge on University Avenue is CLOSED. This road will be CLOSED until fall 2021. Please follow the posted pedestrian and vehicle DETOUR ROUTES.
- Expect new traffic patterns daily on University Avenue north of the bridge and south of the Geist Road and Johansen Expressway intersection.
Pedestrian access is maintained across the Chena River by crossing the temporary pedestrian bridge.
Please follow pedestrian signage to ensure safe travels through the construction area.
If you are traveling on or along the river:
- Please be aware of new bridge structures being built and the equipment in the construction zone.
- Upstream traffic must yield to downstream traffic while boating under the bridge structure.
- There is a "No Wake Zone" under the bridge
