One Thing Most Alaskans Agree On?

"Falling Back" At The Start Of Winter Is Just No Fun At All

Turn Your Clock Back One Hour Tonight..

Daylight Savings Time Was Started In 1918, During World War I, To "Conserve Energy Resources." Which At That Time Was Coal.

When Will This Tradition Of Leaping Forward and Falling Back End?

Two states (Arizona and Hawaii) avoid the whole thing by staying on "Standard Time" year round.

But many other states have passed legislation to stay on Daylight Savings Time all year.

They are: Colorado, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi, Idaho, Louisiana, Ohio, South Carolina, Utah, Wyoming, Delaware, Maine, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, Florida and in California, voters approved a ballot initiative to allow their legislature to pass such a law.

The U.S. Senate passed a bill in 2022 that would make permanent Daylight Savings Time year-round across the whole country, but that apparently never made it past the House of Representatives.

In Alaska, bills that would make it happen have been introduced but they never have made it out of committee.
