The Chitina Emporium – one of Chitina's major historic log landmarks – is in danger of collapse. It has been placed on the list of "most endangered" buildings in the state of Alaska. 

The Emporium is a large two-story building that was used, within the past few decades, as a tourist stop. See 1996 Country Journal story below:
