Man Recovering From Prostate Cancer Is Mistaken For A Pedophile On Facebook Site
A homeless man, living out of his car and frequenting the Community Library in Delta Junction as he waited for housing placement, was wrongly accused by local people of being a pedophile on the Delta Facebook site.
The Delta Wind, the local newspaper for the Richardson Highway town that calls itself "The Friendly Frontier," told the story of the incident on April 24th, 2025.
The Wind wrote that the man was mistaken for "an alleged local pedophile." People wrote that they had seen the man in his car "with his pants down." Then "a flurry of comments" accused him of exposing himself, "lurking" and reading porn in the library, the Delta Wind noted.
A single Delta resident stood up for him, and "continually posted" that the man being accused was not the alleged pedophile at all. The library stood up for him, too. A library worker told the Delta Wind, "He is homeless and living out of his car, which is not against the law." She said the accused man was "nothing but courteous," and added, "We have never had an issue with him," the Delta Wind said.
Then, the man's sister wrote the Delta Wind that her brother was a post-operative prostate cancer survivor who was waiting for a spot in an available apartment at a place called Ptarmigan Heights.
According to the web, Ptarmigan Heights is an independent senior housing complex for the Deltana region that opened in 2015, ten years ago. It's described as "six-unit" and "affordable."
Angered by the slander, the man's sister also wrote: "Nobody even asked my brother if he needs help" while people were posting defamatory allegations.
The Delta Wind noted: "People in the Delta Junction area have been offering assistance since his true plight came to light."
