Mackenzie Scott is on a roll. She divorced Jeff Bezos in 2019  – he was the founder of Amazon and one of the richest people in the world. After the split, Mackenzie Scott immediately began to redistribute her share of the family's wealth around the United States.

She's already given away more than $8 billion. She's now about to distribute $2.7 billion among 286 more organizations.

One of them is the Alaska Native Heritage Center, in Anchorage.

The amount that's being handed to the center isn't known to the public, but it was a huge and welcome surprise. The Heritage Center says it's going to use the gift to fix up its building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning. It's also going to work on its well-known "Hall of Culture" and the replicas of six Alaska Native residences outside the building

There are very few Native cultural centers in Alaska that are in full operation. The exact amount the center will get hasn't been revealed.
