Time to dig out some of those great Alaskan things we have around and take a moment to enjoy them...

Wear Your Comfiest Shoes & Clothing
If you've got something handmade sitting in a drawer or on a shelf, use it. A quilt, or a sweater, or beaded moosehide slippers all fall in these categories. These comfortable, traditional things were designed for happiness. When they were originally designed, every day was always tough! Yet people reveled in beauty anyway.

Channel the past by honoring the strength of those who made lovely everyday things that showed their spirit and joy even in the hardest of times.

Eat Something Alaskan
Almost everybody who has lived for any length of time in the Copper River Valley remembers when times were hard. In the years surrounding the Pipeline construction, the major "fruit" was a glass of bright orange, sugary Tang.  Lunch could be a Pilot Cracker covered in peanut butter. And Spam was everybody's go-to camp supper. Looking back at those tough days often brings a comforting sense of pride. Let's take some strength from that, too. Bring out the Sailor Boy crackers! Along with your moose or fish stew.
