Three Car Collision Across From Valdez Ball Field On Wood Way & Richardson Highway Kills Girdwood Man, Leaves Two Others Injured 

On Friday afternoon, February 24th at 5:45 pm, there was a fatal three car collision in Valdez as you enter town on the Richardson Highway.

The accident occurred when a car turned left out of a subdivision at Wood Way onto the Richardson. There were four people in the cars. Apparently, ice and snow contributed to the accident.

Travis McAlpine, a 44-year old from Girdwood, was medevaced to Anchorage, but died. He was one of three people injured, according to a story in the Anchorage Daily News. 

Valdez has after-hours medical care, through Providence Valdez Medical Center. All of the injured, including McAlpine, were taken to Valdez Medical Center for treatment.
