NPS Subsistence Resource Meeting To Be Held February 23rd To 24th

Topic: Federal Subsistence Hunting & Trapping 

COPPER CENTER, AK – – The Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Subsistence Resource Commission will meet at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve Visitor Center in Copper Center (Mile 106.8 Richardson Highway) and by teleconference on Thursday, February 23, and Friday, February 24, 2023, to consider a range of issues related to subsistence hunting and fishing in the park.

Commission business will include an opportunity to develop proposals to change federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations and an opportunity to comment on wildlife closure reviews for caribou in Unit 12. Additionally, a variety of reports will be presented. The teleconference is open to the public, and public testimony opportunities are provided. Members of the public are encouraged to participate. Written comments may also be emailed to e-mail us by 4 PM on Monday, February 20, for presentation during the meeting.

On February 23, the meeting will start at 9 AM and recess for the day at 5PM or upon completion of business. On February 24, the meeting will start at 9 AM and continue until business is completed. If business is completed on February 23, the meeting will adjourn and no meeting will take place on February 24.
