 Roxy Ann Venner

Nov 2, 1946 - Feb 6, 2023

Roxy Ann Venner, a member of the Chitina Village Tribe, Udzisyu clan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 6, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born on Nov. 2, 1946, in Copper Center, Alaska. She graduated from East High School in 1965, and went on to attend secretarial school, where she excelled.

She enjoyed working at the Anchorage School District for many years and with Kron Associates Inc., until she retired in 2012. She then moved to Albuquerque, N.M., to be with her daughters, Kamilla Venner and Kimberly Eskilida. Alaska was always her home. She kept in close touch with her extended family and loved to travel, read, cook and bake homemade bread for her family. She was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor and laughter and loved life with a childlike joy. Roxy was deeply religious, devoted to serving God and studied the Bible.

Roxy is survived by her daughters, Kamilla Venner (husband Alfredo Aragon) and Kimberly Eskilida; and grandchildren, Robert O'Brien, Rhandal Hauck, Isaiah Eskilida and Calista Venner Aragon. She asked us to take care of her great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Ginger Jacobsen, Eleanor Emily, and Deborah Barlip, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Etta Bell; brothers, Earl Bell, Melvin Bell and Adam Bell; sisters, Elaine Jacobson, Marjorie Wilson and Carol Mackey; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Roxy is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, from 2-4 p.m., at the Anchorage Funeral Home. A second memorial service will be held at the Kluti-Kaah Multi-use Complex on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at 1 p.m., to be followed by her burial and then a traditional Ahtna Athabascan potlatch
