DOT PLANNING MAP |
February 7th, 2024
At a meeting of the Copper Valley’s RPO (Regional Plan Organization) committee, engineers and designers from the state DOT/PF showed a revised draft plan of a proposed rest area at the entrance to the Hub.
The plan, as shown, would have two sets of 1,000-gallon vault toilets similar to those at the Gulkana River boat launch, some pull-in parking areas, a small picnic area with several small garbage cans.

The plan, as shown, would have two sets of 1,000-gallon vault toilets similar to those at the Gulkana River boat launch, some pull-in parking areas, a small picnic area with several small garbage cans.
The plan, as presented, would be built on a paved area to the northeast side of the Visitor Center Cabin.
Questions by the members present asked how the area would be maintained and how the pedestrian traffic flow across the Hub parking lot would be safely managed. The representatives thought toilets would be locked in the winter. No one questioned the need for public accommodations in Glennallen.
