William (Bill) Leonard, 71, passed away on August 30, 2023. 

Bill grew up in Excelsior, MN. As an avid outdoor sportsman, he always longed for the quiet, rustic life. After working as assistant manager of a large sporting goods store and as the lights and sound man for the band, Big Bopper, he followed his heart to Alaska, and moved to Gakona in 1989. 

He lived and worked around the area as a hunting and fishing guide, carpenter, mechanic, school bus driver and chef, excelling at each profession. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Irene Leonard of Excelsior, MN. He is survived by his sisters Lydia Leonard, Terry Leonard, Shelley Kluz, Nancy Janski and his brother John Leonard. 

A memorial service will be held in Gakona, AK in the summer of 2024.
