Cronk Thinks Alaskans Should Consider $15,000 Cash Buy Out & $5,000 "Land Credit"... While Foregoing All Future Permanent Fund Dividends

Mike Cronk of Tok – who represents the Copper River Census Area – has come up with an idea about the Permanent Fund Dividend, which is apparently in trouble.

He proposes giving people a one-time payment of $15,000, along with $5,000 in “land credit.” The recipient would then agree as part of the deal to never receive another PFD again. Cronk calls the idea “a cash cow.”

The first PFD disbursement was in 1982. In the years since, if you were a single person, you’d have gotten $49,817.41 in payments. (A couple with no children received almost $100,000 in payments over all those years  – one for every year.)
