Highway Closed In Tok As Emergency Team Negotiates With & Arrests 53-Year Old Tok Man With Firearm At Gas Station

On August 16, 2021, at approximately 0600 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Tok were notified of a disturbance involving a firearm at the Chevron Gas Station in Tok. Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene; however, the male, 53-year-old Tok resident Norman Egolf refused to surrender to Troopers despite the efforts of the Troopers at the scene. The Interior Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) was activated and responded to the scene, arriving in Tok at approximately 0900 hours.
After additional negotiation, Egolf surrendered to Troopers and was arrested without incident at approximately 1044 hours. Egolf was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center on a single charge of Terroristic Threatening in the Second Degree. Due to the proximity to the Alaska Highway, Troopers temporarily closed the highway for multiple hours this morning; the Alaska State Troopers would like to thank the Alaska Department of Transportation personnel in Tok for their assistance detouring traffic this morning.
