Dispatch Text:
On 8/6/2023 AST was contacted by a group of people who were pack rafting along the Little Chena River approximately 30 miles east of Fairbanks. The location was approximately 1.5 miles from the closest road. The group reported they located a male on the riverbank who appeared lost, was without a shirt or shoes and appeared disoriented. The group stated the male did not have any gear or previsions. They provided the male with food, water and means to create a fire. They provided GPS locations to AST.
Due to heavy smoke conditions AST/AWT was unable to respond via helicopter. On 8/7/2023 AWT responded via boat and contacted the male who was identified as Roy Ewan, age 46 of Gulkana. Roy was disoriented and stated he did not know how he got to that location. Roy only knew he was in the Fairbanks area and believed he had been in the area for a few days. Roy did not have any supplies with him. AWT was able to successfully extract Roy from the field. He was provided medical treatment for minor injuries. It was revealed Roy had an active felony and misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. After being released from medical care, Roy was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center.
