Celebrates Copper Valley Life & People

"McCarthy lies asleep beside the glacier. It's colder now, winter's in the air.
If you think they're wild, it's just because they can't be broken,
it's a strong and gentle people living there."

Famous Tune Commemorates A Man Returning To His Cabin In The Wrangells

In 1976, John Denver released a song about a veteran coming home to the Copper Valley.

The song is about love of home and family, and an eagerness to once again see his little cabin... and the great Wrangell Mountains.

When the song was first released, many homesteaders and young families were busy building cabins here. Denver accurately tapped into the poignancy and pride of the times.

...As well as the hope for peace and tranquility.
