Upward Movement For The CRSD

Note From The Assistant Principal:

The accreditation process is long and arduous. As a result, students from accredited schools gain greater access to federal loans, scholarships, postsecondary education and military programs that require students attend an accredited institution. Additionally, accreditation is something that parents consider when choosing a school, or even an area to live.

The entire district is now accredited. This includes the Glennallen School, Kenny Lake and Slana – as well as our UpStream homeschool.

PRESS RELEASE
COPPER RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT

October 7, 2024

The Copper River School District is proud to announce the conclusion of the Cognia accreditation process. The newly awarded accreditation status will remain through 2030. This achievement underscores the district's ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education for all students.

Cognia accreditation is a comprehensive process that evaluates various aspects of the district, including policies and classroom environments, to ensure it meets the needs of every student. The process consists of three phases: Self-Assessment, Engagement, and Continuous Improvement.

In May 2023, the District's Leadership Team began the Self-Assessment phase, collecting and analyzing data to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement. Following this, the Engagement Review took place in April 2024, during which Cognia experts conducted a thorough examination of the district and highlighted positive practices, such as a supportive learning environment and a focus on preparing students for the future.

The Leadership Team for Cognia Accreditation, led by Mrs. Theresa Laville, will continue to monitor identified areas for improvement, a demonstration of the district's ongoing commitment to growth and enhancement.

Superintendent of Schools, Mrs. Theresa Laville, expressed her pride in this achievement, emphasizing its significance in the District's pursuit of educational preeminence. "Earning accreditation is a vital step in our journey towards excellence," said Mrs. Laville. "We celebrate this success and remain dedicated to continuous improvement."

The District extends its gratitude to the educators, students, and community members whose dedication and support have contributed to this achievement.

The completion of Cognia accreditation is a significant milestone for the Copper River School District, demonstrating its commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring the success of all students.
