House Didn't Approve State Senate's Plan

Budget Goes To Conference

The State House has voted against a "full PFD" dividend of $4,200, along with a $1,300 energy relief check. The $5,500 distribution, passed recently by the Alaska Senate, was around twice what the House had originally suggested.

Apparently, according to KTUU, three Democrats joined the Republicans voting for the larger amount. Three Republicans joined the Democrats, and voted against it. The vote failed, 22 to 18.

There will be a conference committee to negotiate the differences between the House and Senate proposals.
