LAKE LOUISE ROAD RESURFACING
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Crews are working on Lake Louise Road from 6:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Saturday.
- Be alert to flagging and PILOT CAR operations.
- Chipping is scheduled for the second week of August.
PROJECT END RESULT
The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Qayaq Construction, LLC, is working to resurface Lake Louise Road from MP 9 to 19. Project work includes minor leveling, grading, clearing, as well as drainage improvements.
Roadway remains open but restricted to one lane traffic where the culvert has been installed . The roadway will remain open but restricted to one lane.

MCCARTHY ROAD, MP 27 CHOKOSNA RIVER BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
This project is complete.

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with HC Contractors, is working to construct a new bridge over the Chokosna River and a new road alignment to access the bridge.

MITCHELL/CUSHMAN OVERCROSSING BRIDGE STRIKE REPAIR

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Swalling General Contractors, is working to repair the Cushman Street Overcrossing Bridge #1705. Project work includes the replacement of the outer three girders, including the bridge rail.

NORTH POLE STREET LIGHT STANDARDIZATION

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
Minor traffic delays and impacts around the North Pole area.
PROJECT END RESULT
Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities in cooperation with CCI Electrical Service, propose to replace existing lighting systems with more energy-efficient technologies and install new LED luminaires. Work will include roadside hardware and utilities.

NORTHERN REGION ADA IMPROVEMENTS
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Be aware of crews working on shoulders.
- Single lane closures.
PROJECT END RESULT
For 6th Avenue: Rebuild select sidewalks along 6th Avenue between Noble and Cushman Streets. The sidewalk on the north side will be widened. Improve drainage at the intersection of Lacey Street and 6th Avenue. For Geist Road: Rebuild and widen portions of sidewalks on the south side of Chena Pump and Geist Road primarily between the area of Dartmouth and east Mitchell Expressway ramps.
CONTRACTOR INFORMATION
For 6th Avenue improvements the contract has been awarded to Exclusive Paving.
For Geist Road improvements the contract has been awarded to HC Contractors.

NORTHERN REGION GUARDRAIL UPGRADES: GLENN HIGHWAY, RICHARDSON HIGHWAY, and TOK CUTOFF
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Crews are working on the Tok Cutoff between MP 89 and 107.
- Drivers should expect flagging operations, traffic signals, and DELAYS of up to 20 minutes.
PROJECT END RESULT
The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Qayaq Construction, is working to replace and extend guardrail to improve user safety in three areas in the Northern Region. These areas include the Richardson Highway from MP 0 to 264, the Glenn Highway from 118 to 138, and Tok Cutoff from MP 0 to 124. This project is expected to be completed in October 2022.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- There will be minimal delays to mailbox service.
- Work in the upcoming week includes installing new mailboxes and signage, as well as striping.

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in collaboration with HC Contractors, is working to extend the service life of the existing asphalt, and to provide safer driving conditions by updating road signs and mailboxes.
