Althea Hughes Of Gakona Celebrates 97th Birthday In North Carolina

 Althea Hughes, Longtime Gakona Junction Resident 

Althea Hughes, longtime Gakona Junction resident, was honored by her family as she hit the 97 year mark – none the worse for wear, apparently. Sporting a tan from her new outdoor life in North Carolina, she also uncharacteristically wore a short sleeved blouse. Althea is living with her daughter, Robyn Crone.

The photograph was taken by her granddaughter, Dora Mae, to celebrate her grandma's October birthday. Dora is the daughter of Kenny Hughes (formerly of Teller and now from Nome) and was visiting for the occasion. 

 
Althea Hughes, along with her husband, Ken, were part owners of the Glenn-Rich Hotel.
