On 1/16/24, as part of a plea agreement, Vladimir Ranaunaut, age 38 of Anchorage, pled guilty in Glennallen District Court to one charge of Wanton Waste of a big game animal. The conviction comes as a result of an investigation by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers into a report of a sub-legal bull moose that was shot and left to waste in GMU 13, north of Eureka, in September of 2021. A months long investigation by AWT led to two suspects being identified and charged in the incident. One of two defendants, Vladimir Ranaunaut, was sentenced yesterday to seven days in jail, and ordered to pay $3500 in fines and restitution.
