As Temperature Rises, Watch For Snow Avalanches From Roofs Over Paths & Doors

WATCH FOR ROOF AVALANCHES 

Temperature Expected To Rise Above Freezing 

Mid-April roof slide onto a porch. 

On April 11, 2017, a 4-year old North Pole girl was trapped for 8 minutes under snow that slid off her roof. She was killed by the avalanche. 

On February 1st, 2004, a 650-pound hunk of ice slid off the roof of the U.S. Forest Service building in Girdwood and killed a 29-year old Girdwood man who was walking out the door.
